Flash Stuff

Most of these are examples of Flash movies from an interactive e-Learning guide on Mentoring which I designed and produced at TVU. This should be finished soon and then I'll provide a link to the complete site on our server. For the moment I have the whole site on CD-ROM if anyone wants to view these in context. It was developed at TVU Learning Materials Development Unit with Dataconverters, an external web solutions company.

1. This movie is a splash page. Designed to grab the viewers attention. The only action script in this is a button for entering the site. I like the audio effect and spent ages timing it out right with the animation. Event sounds are simple enough but animation to sound on a time line is dependent on the machines clock speed.

2. The cartoon was a solution developed as a request to make the site more 'human'. It also acts as an introduction in audio of how to use the site. The only action script is an on mouse over event and stop all sounds command.

3 and 4. These diagramics illustrate key concepts in the written material. Visualisation was the key to this as the authors didn't know themselves what they wanted!

5. I've found out I can get my illustrations into Flash so I wanted to produce a few of these 'design rules' with one of my favourite characters. Unfortunately I haven't had the time to do any more yet....

6. In terms of scripting this is a fairly complex piece as it's got so many buttons and 'stop all sounds' commands with 'go to frame' commands in each button (we had to do THIRTY of these!).

7. This is an ongoing project for a guide to e-Learning for TVU lecturers. I am using scenes here with bespoke navigation and examples of e-Learning tools templates to show the lecturers how they can get interactivity and feedback from semi-intelligent quizzes in Flash. The idea is to develop the whole site as Flash with dozens of scenes - so it could take a while!
